Reducing the fan noise on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Graphics driver is not included in ubuntu 12.04 LTS version, and it causes several issues, including fan noise, overheating, high CPU usage and huge power consumption on battery. The graphics driver can be installed in following ways:

Option – 1
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update

Option – 2
sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia linux-headers-generic

Option – 3
Install mesa-utils through Ubuntu software centre
In following way, we can determine whether graphics driver has successfully installed,

Go to System setting – Details – Graphics
OR
demsg | grep bbswitch

Applications can be run on graphics driver using following command:

optirun firefox &
